black, white and red all over

we're doing portraits in art photography right now. i don't really have a lot of experience doing this type of work. but i've found i enjoy shooting in black and white rather than color when it comes to art because i can separate it my mind more easily. i can disappear behind my lens and become my camera, existing only to take a picture of my subject. black and white also shows more emotion seemingly.
